Agape Haitian Ministries
Agape International Ministries began with one man trusting in the Lord. Jean Robert is a community leader in Pignon, Haiti, where he was born and raised, coming to know Christ as a young man. He attended college in Cap-Haitian and studied agriculture. Jean did odd-end jobs like photography until he had enough money to purchase some land. On that land, God gave him a vision for the property to be used to make Jesus' name reign over the area.
Incredible things are happening here.
A school for the children
It all started with one class in a single schoolroom made of twigs. John saw the wandering kids in his neighbor, unable to afford or attend school, and was motivated to open up a low-or-no-cost school on his property. Since then, the school has added a new grade each year to accommodate that growing first class. Today, there are eight grades and a staff of 12. We are currently raising funds for a new school building that will alleviate the cramped classrooms.
New School Building
A beautiful 5 room schoolhouse was built for Jean Robert by a mission group from Brazil, and he thanks and praises God for it daily. However, that leaves 2 grades without a building to hold class in. They are left to learn outside or underneath the wood structure where they hold church. With your support, we will be able to build on to the existing school building providing a place for these kids to learn indoors, as well as allowing Jean to accept more children into his school, children who are otherwise without access to education.
Perhaps the most important project is the building of a well on the property. This well will not only allow these beautiful children access to badly needed clean water while at school, but will also lead to an irrigation system for Jean's farmland. Haiti can experience extreme droughts, crippling communities dependent on crops to feed their families. An irrigation system would allow Jean Robert to follow through on his goal of providing families of the church a chance to earn a living through the selling of crops grown on the property, as well as providing the schoolchildren with meals.
Jean Robert has faithfully poured his own salary into this land and grown it into something that few thought possible given the few resources he had. The property includes the school, a healthy and constantly growing church, a beautiful mission dorm for groups to stay in, and acres of farmland.
God has shown us without a doubt that he is backing this project. Serving Jesus is the objective, making him known is the mission, and helping the community is the goal. It is our vision to see AIM become fully self-sustainable within 3 years and can then act as a shining example and training ground for other leaders across Haiti.
